Deacons
The office of Deacon was first established in the early New Testament church as recorded in Acts Chapter 6. The office was created in response to the unmet physical needs of the Greek widows. In keeping with the example of the early church, Cave Spring Baptist Church has selected a body of Deacons that meet the criteria established in 1 Timothy Chapter 3:
- Men filled with the Holy Spirit
- Elected by the church body
- Authorized by the pastoral staff to assist in serving the local church body
- Act as an extension of the pastoral staff when and where needed
The Deacons of Cave Spring Baptist Church operate through the organization of the Sunday School. Each Deacon is assigned the responsibility to work with a Sunday School teacher to minister to the needs of the body.
